What do you mean by "long haul"?
A trip of 600 Km per day is no problem.
I change the plug every service (6'000 Km) even though it still looks good.
I have never yet had a plug foul on me after 30'000 Km.
Enjoy and take a spare plug and a complete tool-kit with you if you're worried.
